Clinically Proven, Approved by Dermatologists, Trialed by You.
Coats is a vegan, cruelty free, clinically proven and dermatologist approved skincare brand, designed for young skin. Launched in 2022 with sales coming only through Amazon and TikTok, the brand was in a position to expand 2023, with a need for a transactional eCommerce website.
With a mobile-first approach, I was responsible for leading the ideation and Creative Direction for the website design from concept to completion. The goal was to create a visually engaging and highly functional website that caters to the needs of the Coats consumer whilst solving common eCommerce challenges and delivers an exceptional user experience. I worked in close collaboration with the Coats brand team and the eCommerce agency who was developing the site for us. Building on the Brand Book, taking colour palette, typography and design guidelines into consideration, we crafted an eye-catching and unique framework for the site.
Inspired by chemistry, the periodic table and lab equipment, the brand has a square design system and grid-work at its core. We used this, together with its bright colour palette, to design a fun and animated website. From educational features such as the 'Skin Quiz' and the 'Skin School' to interactive initiatives such as the 'Campus Ambassador Program' and 'DM-a-Derm', the site engages the user beyond being purely transactional.

“Don't stress - whether your skin barrier needs rescuing or just looking after, we're here to help you switch to a healthier routine for happier skin."
Coats is a vegan, cruelty free, clinically proven and dermatologist approved skincare brand, designed for young skin. The 'Make The Skin Switch' campaign was crafted from the idea of encouraging new consumers to switch up their skincare - a challenge to try the Coats 3-step routine and see a difference in 10 days, or your money back.
With this challenge in mind, and the campaign tagline being 'Make The Skin Switch', I was tasked to create a logo lock-up that encapsulated the important part of the message - namely the 'switch' part. Working with the brand font and colours, keeping a clean look and feel, I crafted the 'S' in the word 'Switch' to look like arrows that are interlocked and pointing in opposite directions, suggesting a swap or a switch.
Building on the logo lock-up, I was further tasked with creating a send-out box for the campaign activation. I was immediately inspired by the notion of a switch button, a slider of sorts indicating different states. I designed the box to have this mechanical on the top lid, where the slider mechanism would allow for 'Skin' and 'Switch' to be shown as the monogrammed toggle is moved.
As the 360 campaign started to take shape, my team assisted with the creation of all supportive assets, such as web banners, emails, info cards, event collateral etc.
